Hampshire Secure Services Of All-Rounder Amanda-Jade Wellington For Entirety Of 2026

Australian all-rounder Amanda-Jade Wellington has joined Hampshire for the full 2026 domestic season

Australian all-rounder Amanda-Jade Wellington will join Hampshire for the entirety of the 2026 season.

The 28-year-old is no stranger to Utilita Bowl having featured 17 times for Southern Brave in The Hundred across 2021 and 2022, when she took 31 wickets.

Wellington is also the second-leading wicket taker in the history of the women’s Hundred competition with 50 scalps to her name.

In 2025, Wellington spent the English summer with Somerset, having played previously for Western Storm in regional cricket.

I’m really excited to join Hampshire for the upcoming season. I had a great time at Utilita Bowl in my two years at Southern Brave and I look forward to catching up with familiar faces and making new memories which will hopefully result in trophies come end the end of the summer.

Amanda-Jade Wellington

She was Somerset’s leading wicket taker in the One Day Cup with 19, and scored 282 runs, the third most for her side, in the competition.

In the Vitality Blast, the leg spinner scored 254 runs, the most for the Wyverns, at a strike rate of 130, and took 13 wickets (second most for Somerset).

From South Australia, Wellington was inspired by Hampshire and Australia legend Shane Warne; she taught herself how to bowl leg spin in her back yard.

She made her debut for South Australia aged just 15 years old and became the youngest player ever, male or female, to represent the state in a professional match.

Playing for Adelaide Strikers, Wellington has taken 161 wickets with best figures of 5-8 coming in the 2021-22 season of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

We’re really pleased to secure Amanda-Jade for the whole of next season. She’s a friend of the club and a vastly experienced cricketer, who boasts a fine record with bat and ball in England having featured effectively in The Hundred and in Tier 1. We look forward to welcoming her back to Utilita Bowl in 2026.

Adam Carty, Regional Director of Women's Cricket

She made her international debut against South Africa in 2016 and has represented her country 23 times and has taken 30 wickets across all three formats.

In The Hundred, she has taken 52 wickets, the second most in the history of the competition, with 31 coming for Southern Brave in 2021 and 2022 as the Utilita Bowl-based side reached consecutive finals.
