Hampshire Sign Former England Batter Mark Stoneman

Left-handed opening batter Mark Stoneman will join the Rose and Crown from 2025

Former England Test match batter Mark Stoneman has joined Hampshire on a one-year red ball contract.

Stoneman has carved out a highly successful domestic career spanning 18 years, where he’s scored over 14,000 runs with over 100 scores of fifty or more, with 31 centuries in First-Class cricket.

He has also featured 113 times in List A cricket with nearly 4,000 runs and seven hundreds.

He made his international debut in the summer of 2017 and scored his first Test fifty in his second match, before going on to feature in that winter’s Ashes and tour of New Zealand where he scored four more half-centuries.

I’m very much looking forward to joining Hampshire for the upcoming season. I know how hungry the club is to get their hands on the Championship having been so close for the last few years. There’s a fantastic group of players and coaches who I look forward to joining up with, and hopefully we can get our hands on that red ball title come September.

The 37-year-old’s career began with Durham, where he spent ten seasons and scored over 7,500 runs, with stints at Surrey and Middlesex to follow.

Debuting in 2007, Stoneman scored his first fifty against Hampshire in just his second match before notching up his first hundred against Sussex later that season.

We believe Mark has a lot to offer. He’s won Championships and played at the highest level, and it was evident when we met that he is extremely motivated to have an impact at the club. It feels like a great fit for both parties and we are excited by his arrival.
