Dawson Included In England Squads For Sri Lanka Tour And Provisional T20 World Cup
Hampshire all-rounder Liam Dawson has been selected for England's white-ball tour of Sri Lanka and the provisional squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.
Hampshire Cricket are delighted to announce the signing of left-arm spinner, Tabraiz Shamsi.
The South African international will join the squad ahead of this evening’s T20 fixture against Middlesex at Lord’s and will be available for selection for the remaining four South Group fixtures. His inclusion comes as a result of tournament-ending injuries suffered by first-team spinners Mason Crane and Brad Taylor.

Shamsi has made 35 appearances so far for his national side since making his debut in an ODI against Australia in 2016. The 29-year-old also has an outstanding domestic record, with 116 wickets to his name at an average of just 23.95 in 113 T20 matches.
The Johannesburg native also excelled in several franchise competitions around the world, including the Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League and Mzansi Super League.
After losing both Mason and Brad to injuries, Shamsi bolsters the squad and offers an excellent spin option with international experience for the final four fixtures of our Vitality Blast campaign – we’re looking forward to having him with us, starting tomorrow against Middlesex.

There will be two opportunities for Hampshire fans to see Shamsi in action at the The Ageas Bowl as James Vince’s side take on Essex Eagles on Sunday (25th August) before the final South Group clash on Thursday 29th August against Middlesex.
Tickets and hospitality packages for both fixtures at the The Ageas Bowl are available online via the link above, via the new Hampshire Cricket App, over the phone on 0844 847 1863 and in person from the The Ageas Bowl Ticketing and Membership Office (during normal working hours).
