Hampshire Women look to bounce back against Durham in the next round of fixtures in the Metro Bank One Day Cup
Sunday 19th June saw Hampshire U15 girls lay in a 100-ball inter-counties tournament at St Edward’s School in Oxford.
Hampshire girls - playing against Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire and Middlesex - came out on top.
Batting first against Gloucestershire, Hampshire stayed on target for a good score throughout, Pippa Sproul who led the way with 52 off 48 balls was ably supported by Captain and Southern Vipers Academy batter Eve O’Neill (31 off 31) and Bella Mitchell (24 off 14) with Hampshire reaching a score of 122 at close.
A good all-round bowling performance restricted Middlesex to 89-7 with wicket keeper Mia Clark taking four dismissals, Hampshire winning by 33 runs.
Against Northants, the Hampshire girls - after being put into bat - notched 214-2 off their 100 balls, a total which included 22 fours and 7 sixes.
Abby Stevenson led the way with 78 off 42 and was well supported by Mia Clark (32 off 22), Bella Mitchell (51 off 26) and Naomi Hillman-Berjamo (28 off 12) before the bowling unit also recorded some incredible performances.
Ella Cruise-Cotter took 2-5 off 20 balls, and Isabella Lloyd-Jones took 4-8, including a hattrick, off her 20 deliveries, as Northants were bowled out for 41 from 63 balls giving Hampshire their second win by a mammoth 173 runs.
The final game was against Middlesex, with 58* from Pippa Sproul and 52* from Abby Stevenson guiding Hampshire to 135-2.
An opening stand of 52 saw Middlesex off to a solid start, however the bowlers stayed true to their task in restricting the Middlesex innings to 86-6.
Three wins out of three, a great day and huge thank you to hosts St Edward’s.
