An 18-strong playing squad has been named for the 2019 season
Hampshire Women have today announced an 18-strong squad for the 2019 season, with Katie George appointed captain of the side.
George, who has represented Hampshire Women since September 2013, will skipper the squad for the first time with Fi Morris named as vice-captain.
Suzie Bates returns as overseas player for the Royal London One-Day Cup where she will help defend the Division One 50-over crown secured last season. Australian seamer Sam Betts, who has featured for Adelaide Strikers and South Australia, will then arrive as overseas for the T20 competition.
Charlotte Edwards, who captained Hampshire Women last year, steps down from her playing role to continue her role as Director of Women's Cricket.
We have selected a young and exciting squad to defend our title for the 2019 season. Katie has shown outstanding leadership skills over the last two seasons and I look forward to working with her throughout the season.
We welcome back Suzie and Sam to Hampshire colours as well as Maia Bouchier who joins from Middlesex. Lucia Kendall is selected in the squad for the first time having been part of the England Academy this winter and is one of the brightest young talents in the country. All the players have worked incredibly hard over the winter period and I look forward to working with them all this summer with the aim to make it another successful summer for Hampshire.

Also included in the squad is 14-year-old Lucia Kendall, daughter of former Hampshire batsman Will Kendall. New recruit Maia Bouchier joined from Middlesex in the winter and is also a prominent feature in a side looking to replicate last year's success.
