Hampshire Women completed a sensational Royal London One-Day Championship campaign on Sunday by claiming victory in their final fixture to secure the Division One title in their first season.
The team achieved promotion to the top tier of the 50-over competition last season, and five wins from six contests had given Charlotte Edwards’ side an excellent chance of being crowned First Division champions at the first time of asking, heading into Sunday’s final match of the competition.

A minimum total of 17 points were required against Middlesex, and after posting 210-7 from their allotted overs batting first, Hampshire needed to bowl the visitors out in the second-innings to ensure the trophy returned to the South Coast.
And the hosts never looked in danger of suffering defeat, bowling Middlesex out for 144 in reply, to spark ensuing celebrations.
It’s been a remarkable effort from the whole squad. It’s hard to believe we were in Division Three in 2015 and now champions of Division One in 2018.
Charlotte Edwards, Director of Women's Cricket & Hampshire Captain
The team have improved game on game and have relished playing against the best players. I’m so proud of what the team and coaching staff have achieved and look forward to building on this over the coming years.
