Irwin Mitchell Solicitors launch disability sponsorship in style
The Ageas Bowl was filled with fun and smiles as children with disabilities as a record nine schools competed in the annual Table Cricket tournament.
Over 60 pupils played the adapted form of the game centred around table tennis tables, with Hollywater (Bordon) finishing top closely followed by Shepherd’s Down (Winchester) and Treloar's College (Alton). All three head for the regional finals at Hove in May.
All teams regularly exceeded 100 runs, with six more schools also taking part:
Clay Hill (Lyndhurst), Icknield (Andover), Limington House (Basingstoke), Osborne (Winchester), Rachel Madocks (Waterlooville) and St Francis (Fareham).
The Lord's Taverners cricket charity supported pre-tournament coaching, and all schools hope to compete in a new summer league.
The event launched Irwin Mitchell Solicitors' sponsorship of Hampshire Cricket Board's disability programme, and Hampshire Cricket star Michael Carberry dropped in to meet the teams and find out more.
Irwin Mitchell's backing enhances their award-winning Don’t Quit, Do It campaign which aims to make sport more inclusive and encourage greater participation by people with disabilities.
From the work we do, we see the positive impact that taking part in disability and inclusive sport can have for people who have suffered life changing injuries. We’re already actively trying to support disability sports clubs in the region and are honoured to be able add Hampshire Cricket’s disability programme to that list. We hope that our support will enable more people the chance to get involved with inclusive cricket.

It was great to see nine schools at The Ageas Bowl, two more than last year! We are delighted that Irwin Mitchell are sponsoring our disability programme. With their support we hope to reach even more people and offer greater opportunities for people with disabilities.
