Joseph Eckland And Daisy Mullan Released
Keeper-batter Joseph Eckland and all-rounder Daisy Mullan will leave Hampshire Cricket on the expiration of their contracts
The 28-year-old Winchester-born batsman, who is currently recovering from injury, expressed his delight at extending his stay with his boyhood club.
Weatherley was enjoying an excellent 2025 campaign across all formats before his injury setback. In the County Championship, he scored two fifties in just three innings, averaging 46.33 and showing the consistent form that has made him a valuable member of Hampshire's batting lineup.
The right-handed batsman also registered a personal best unbeaten 116 in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, while his white-ball form was particularly impressive in the Vitality Blast. Weatherley accumulated 328 runs throughout the T20 tournament, producing some explosive innings including a blistering 41 off just 22 balls against Middlesex at a strike rate of 186.36.
Hampshire Cricket has been my home since the age of 9, so signing until 2026 was an easy decision. I'm currently focused on my recovery, but already I can't wait to get back playing next year.
Joe Weatherley
This club has always supported me and there’s still a lot I want to achieve personally and collectively. I’m excited about what we can accomplish together over the next season.
A product of Hampshire's Academy system, Weatherley has been with the county since childhood and has developed into a reliable performer across all formats. His contract extension provides continuity as Hampshire look to build on their recent successes in both red and white-ball cricket.
Joe has been an integral part of our setup for many years, and his performances this season before injury showed just how valuable he is to the team. We're delighted to secure his services until 2026 and look forward to seeing him back in action next season.
