Junior Cup Wins For Hook And Easton

Teams and club volunteers battled the weather to get the game on as the first two county finals of the year were both postponed until reserve days.

UNDER 13 HINDLEY CUP at Tichborne Park Cricket Club

Hook and Newnham Basics racked up 148 in their 20 overs against Sarisbury Athletic before a rainshower made the Tichborne Park square unplayable.

The match was decided by a bowl out on the artificial pitch and Hook's Ollie James kept the coolest head, scoring a hit with the 20th and final ball.

The north Hampshire club progress to the national stages of the NatWest Club Championship.

Both Basingstoke and North Hants (2003) and St Cross Symondians (2012) are past national champions.

Easton and Martyr Worthy's first win saw Monty Randle play a starring role, claiming three wickets with his leg spin and scoring 27. 

Hamish Croft (30) anchored the innings and vital late hitting from Rory Wooster set Hambledon a challenging target of 120.

Benjamin Feeney (27) and Jonas Waktare (28) chased hard but two wickets from Peter Burnand applied the brakes and Easton triumphed by 29 runs.
