Keith Barker to Return to Warwickshire for 2026 Season

All-rounder Keith Barker will depart Hampshire at the end of the current season to return to Warwickshire for 2026.

The 38-year-old, affectionately known as 'King Keith' by Hampshire supporters, has been a pivotal figure for the county since joining in 2019, establishing himself as one of the most consistent performers in the Rothesay County Championship whilst playing a crucial role in Hampshire's Metro Bank One Day Cup final appearance in 2023.

In 54 first-class matches for Hampshire, Barker has taken 174 wickets at an average of 24.44, including a best innings performance of 7-46 against Nottinghamshire at Utilita Bowl in 2021. With the bat, he has contributed 1,896 runs at an average of 28.72, including 10 fifties and a high score of 84 against Middlesex at Lord's in 2021.

I've had a fantastic time representing Hampshire over the past seven years. The opportunity to finish my cricket career where it all started and be closer to my family was something I couldn't turn down. I'll always have great memories of my time at Utilita Bowl and the support from the fans has been incredible.

Barker, who has been recovering from injury throughout July and August, is hoped to be available for Hampshire's final three Rothesay County Championship matches of the current campaign as he looks to conclude his Hampshire career on the pitch.

During his time at Utilita Bowl, the left-arm seamer has proven to be a genuine match-winner across all formats, combining his bowling prowess with valuable lower-order contributions. His experience has been invaluable in mentoring young bowlers across both the men's and women's academy programmes.

Keith has been an excellent performer with bat and ball over an extended period. He's been an integral part of our Championship team and has made himself a favourite with the fans. We wish him well on his return to Warwickshire and hope to see him fit to feature in our final three County Championship matches this summer, so our members and supporters can give him the farewell he deserves.

The move will see Barker return to Edgbaston, where he made his professional debut and spent the early years of his career before spells with Yorkshire and Hampshire.

Hampshire Cricket wishes Keith all the best for his return to Warwickshire and thanks him for his outstanding service to the county.
