Kelly And Jack Make Young Lions Debuts

Young all-rounders Dom Kelly and Eddie Jack both played in England U19’s first Test against Sri Lanka

Hampshire duo Dom Kelly and Eddie Jack made their debuts for England U19s in their first Test against Sri Lanka at the Cloud County Ground this week.

The pair, who are both all-rounders and 16-years-old, took two wickets apiece during the match.

Jack was first to make his mark in the first innings as he first had Ramuda Somarathna caught at midwicket, before dismissing Sri Lanka captain Raveen de Silva after he chopped on to his own stumps.

Then it was the turn of Kelly in the second innings. Asitha Wanninayake was caught in the slips and Lahiru Dawalage was trapped lbw to give Kelly his two wickets.

Though Sri Lanka took the victory by three wickets, it was a promising start for Kelly, Jack and the rest of the Young Lions squad.

Another squad will be named ahead of the second Test, which begins on 28 August at the Incora County Ground in Derby, before naming a squad for the three-match Royal London U19s Series.
