Kids Go Free For Hampshire’s Season Openers
Kids go free across the Easter weekend (3–6 April) as Hampshire host Essex in the Rothesay County Championship, with the same offer available for Hampshire Women’s season opener on 11 April.
Hampshire Cricket are delighted to be supporting overseas star Kyle Abbott as he today launches a historic auction, helping to raise funds for South Africa-based wildlife conservation charity, Nkombe Rhino.
The auction will provide a rare opportunity for three individuals to own a piece of sporting history whilst also becoming ‘custodians of hope’ for endangered wildlife in Africa, with three exclusive canvases to be made available – each hand-signed by Abbott – highlighting the Hampshire star’s incredible record-breaking 17-wicket haul against Somerset in 2019.

The achievement saw the seamer capture the best first-class match figures by any cricketer since 1956 and was part of an incredible 2019 season which saw him claim 111 wickets for the Club. All funds raised during the auction will directly help to contribute to the exceptional conservation efforts of Nkombe Rhino, whose work is critical to the survival of many protected species in South Africa.
Wildlife conservation is something incredibly close to my heart so I’m thrilled to be supporting Nkombe Rhino and the fantastic work they continue to do in protecting these majestic animals across South Africa.
Kyle Abbott
I’m excited to launch this unique auction which captures a piece of cricket history and one of the proudest moments in my career, and I hope it will really have an impact in supporting the charity’s crucial initiatives which ensure the protection of a number of the world’s most endangered species.
Abbott has devoted his spare time throughout the COVID-19 pandemic working with the non-profit organisation, helping to drive the charity’s crucial ‘Feeding The Wildlife Community’ initiative and protect endangered species across the nation.

The scheme sees the charity support communities on the edge of National Parks and game reserves in KwaZulu-Natal who could otherwise have turned to illegal poaching to feed themselves during the pandemic.
