Dawson, playing his first competitive match of the season, had missed Hampshire's opening game due his inclusion in England's 14-man ODI squad to face Ireland in the three-match Royal London series at The Ageas Bowl.
The full extent of the injury will be determined following a scan, which is due to take place on Wednesday and a further update will be provided in due course.
