Hampshire and Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon has today been selected in the ICC's Test Team of the Year for 2019.
The right-armer claimed 44 Test wickets in 12 Tests last year - the second best tally among any bowler in 2019 - with four five-wicket hauls to his name and best match figures of 9-161.
Lyon was also the only spinner to take more than 30 wickets in the calendar year.
Both the Test team, ODI team and the annual men’s individual awards were selected by a voting academy, which took into consideration player performances throughout 2019.
ICC Test Team of the Year (in batting order): Mayank Agarwal, Tom Latham, Marnus Labuschagne, Virat Kohli (captain), Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, BJ Watling (wicketkeeper), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Neil Wagner, Nathan Lyon.
The best way to catch Nathan and the rest of the Hampshire squad in action all season long this season is with a 2020 Hampshire Cricket Membership and there’s never been a better time to join or renew.
More information on each Membership offering can be found online via the link above, over the phone on 0844 847 1863 or in person at the The Ageas Bowl Ticket Office (Mon-Fri: 9am-5pm).
