Mason Crane Signs Hampshire Contract Extension

The Hampshire leg-spinner has committed his future to the Club, signing a new contract extension

Hampshire Cricket are delighted to announce that Mason Crane has put pen-to-paper on a new deal, extending his stay at The Ageas Bowl until at least the end of 2024.

Crane, a product of Hampshire’s successful player pathway system, made his first-team debut in 2015 and has become an influential member of the squad ever since.

We are delighted that Mason has committed his future to Hampshire. He has developed into a vital member of our squad and we are confident that he will contribute to any successes we have in the future.

Giles White, Hampshire Director of Cricket

I’m very happy to have signed a contract extension here at Hampshire. I've really enjoyed my time at Hampshire so it was an easy decision to extend my stay and I’m looking forward to pushing for silverware.

Mason Crane

He showed his potential to The Ageas Bowl crowd when he became the youngest Hampshire player to record a five-wicket haul in a County Championship clash with Warwickshire, just weeks after making his debut for the Club.

Continuing to impress on the county scene, Crane received international recognition courtesy of a call-up to England’s IT20 side in the summer of 2017, before making his Test debut as part of their squad for the 2017/18 Ashes series in Australia.

Last season the 25-year-old was crucial in the Vitality Blast as the Hawks made it all the way to Finals Day, taking 16 wickets. Though he found himself in and out of the County Championship side, he still managed to take 23 wickets at an average of 25 in just six appearances – including a best of 5-41 in the final game against Lancashire as he almost bowled Hampshire to the County Championship title.

You can watch Crane and the rest of the Hawks squad in Vitality Blast action this summer with a T20 Passport.
