Match Preview: Essex v Hampshire - NatWest T20 Blast

Squad news ahead of Friday's NatWest T20 Blast match against Essex at Chelmsford

Hampshire will be looking to bounce back following last Friday’s loss to Sussex when they travel to Chelmsford to face Essex Eagles on Friday.

James Vince’s side currently sit second in the NatWest T20 Blast South Division having won five of their eight matches so far in the competition, and a victory could see them move to the top of the table, with group-leaders Kent not in action having played a game more.

Hampshire Squad:

Hampshire will be without all-rounder Sean Ervine, who is unavailable due to a fractured finger sustained during Monday’s LV= County Championship match against Somerset.

Joe Gatting is added to the 13-man squad in place of Ervine, with the remainder unchanged from the previous fixture.

The Opposition:

Essex have enjoyed a reasonably positive T20 campaign so far this season, and they currently sit in third place in the South Group having won five of their ten fixtures played.

Ravi Bopara will likely be a danger-man having not featured at the The Ageas Bowl in the reverse fixture earlier this season – the all-rounder currently has impressive averages of more than 43 with the bat and 17 with the ball in this year's T20 Blast competition.
