Everything is up for grabs as Hampshire Men travel to Gloucestershire in what promises to be a knockout-style encounter to conclude the group stages
Metro Bank One Day Cup
Tuesday 26th August (11am start)
The Seat Unique Stadium
Hampshire arrive with their Metro Bank One Day Cup fate in their own hands following Sunday's thrilling three-wicket victory over Derbyshire Falcons at Utilita Bowl. Teenager Ben Mayes stole the show with a match-winning 62 not out, the 17-year-old England Under-19 star mesmerising with power and skill in his second List A fifty. His 111-run partnership with James Fuller (54 off 39) proved decisive as Hampshire chased down Derbyshire's imposing 339 with five balls to spare.
Gloucestershire have already secured their place in the knockout stages but suffered their first defeat of the campaign on Friday, losing by 130 runs to Essex at Chelmsford. Tom Westley's excellent 92 and Matt Critchley's 3-27 proved too much as the hosts were bowled out for just 159, ending their six-match winning streak.
Despite that setback, Jack Taylor's men remain formidable opponents. They await confirmation of whether they'll progress straight to the semi-finals as Group A winners, while captain James Bracey has been in scintillating form with 468 runs in the competition, including a high score of 186.
For Hampshire, victory would guarantee progression to the knockout stages for a fourth consecutive season. Captain Nick Gubbins continues to lead the tournament's run-scoring charts, whilst the emergence of young talents like Mayes adds an exciting dimension to their challenge.
Hampshire have made changes to their squad for the crucial Metro Bank One Day Cup fixture against Gloucestershire at The Seat Unique Stadium.
Kyle Abbott, James Fuller, Brad Wheal and Brandon McMullen are unavailable, with Keith Barker and Toby Albert coming into the 13-player squad. McMullen played his final game for Hampshire this year in the victory over Derbyshire.

Why they can win the competition: Less affected than most rivals by call-ups to The Hundred (only four), Gloucestershire proved themselves a one-day force by winning last season’s Vitality Blast. Despite making a nightmare start to that competition this summer, they reeled off four successive group wins at one stage, beating the likes of Hampshire and Essex.
Player to watch: At the age of 32, Gloucestershire’s red-ball captain Cameron Bancroft boasts more than 3,000 runs in List A cricket at an average of over 40, with five hundreds, and will provide a wealth of experience at the top of the batting order. The Australia Test player has already produced innings of 163 and 176 in the Rothesay County Championship this season.
Young gun: Seam bowler Aman Rao signed for Gloucestershire just before the start of the Vitality Blast and played in the first two group matches against Kent and Sussex. The 21-year-old Loughborough University student is sure to be given more opportunities in the Metro Bank One Day Cup and his height combined with an ability to swing the ball could see him make a significant impact.
Final thought: With head coach Mark Alleyne involved in The Hundred, bowling coach Mark Thorburn takes charge for the second successive year and will be determined to make a better start that last season when the team lost their first two group matches before winning four of the next five and just failing to reach the knock-out stage.
