Match Preview: Hampshire v Glamorgan - Vitality Blast
A 14-man squad has been named for Friday's Vitality Blast curtain-raiser against Glamorgan
Hampshire will be looking to build on last year’s seventh Finals Day appearance in eight years, as well as this season’s Royal London One-Day Cup triumph, as James Vince’s side prepare for the opening Vitality Blast match of the campaign against Glamorgan on Friday.
New signings Colin Munro and Mujeeb Ur Rahman are both available for Friday’s curtain-raiser, with the duo set to make their Hampshire debut in tomorrow’s first South Group match-up.
Sam Northeast will also make his first Vitality Blast appearance for the Club, whilst 50-over final hero Rilee Rossouw will be hoping to continue his good form heading into this second white-ball competition.
The Opposition:
After enjoying great success in last year’s Blast competition, Glamorgan will be looking to emulate that heading into the tournament’s 2018 edition.
The Welsh side impressed in the South Group last year as they topped the table, before defeating Leicestershire to reach Finals Day for the first time in 13 years.
Destructive top-order batsman Colin Ingram and Australian left-handers Shaun Marsh and Usman Khawaja will offer quality and experience in Glamorgan’s batting line-up, whilst red-ball skipper Michael Hogan will lead the bowling attack and can be dangerous in the opening powerplay and at the death.
