A 14-player Hampshire squad has been selected to play Kent at Utilita Bowl in the Vitality County Championship
Hampshire v Kent Vitality County Championship (Division One) Sunday 30th June – Wednesday 3rd July 2024 (11am Start) Utilita Bowl
Hampshire welcome Kent to Utilita Bowl in the Vitality County Championship, starting on Sunday.
James Vince's side brought 12 points home from Edgbaston where they were just one ball away from victory, but Sam Hain's obdurate unbeaten century took away the chance of victory.
The draw saw Hampshire slip to fifth in Division One, with Durham just two point ahead in fourth after they secured maximum bonus points in their stalemate against Essex.
Kent have had a difficult time of it in the top flight, as they sit bottom of the table on 62 points, with a solitary win from their eight matches.
They were defeated by an innings and 83 runs against Lancashire on home turf as the red rose county moved out of the relegation spots.
Hampshire Squad
Hampshire have named a 14-player squad for the contest with Kent.
The squad is unchanged after a high-quality performance in the second city, with James Vince and Liam Dawson both securing second innings centuries, whilst Fletcha Middleton recorded back-to-back fifties in the match.
Keith Barker and Kyle Abbott did the bulk of the damage with the ball, as the former picked up his ninth First-Class five-for for the Rose and Crown, and his best figures in the County Championship since May 2022.

Kent
Captain: Daniel Bell-Drummond
It has been a tough season so far in red-ball cricket for Kent who find themselves bottom of Division One after eight matches, with four defeats and just one win. Furthermore, they have lost their last three matches in a row, two of which were by an innings. 2023 was also a tough year for them in the County Championship, finishing eighth and just seven points above the relegation zone.
Daniel Bell-Drummond has taken over as captain in red-ball cricket and led from the front with 651 runs so far this season. Joe Denly and Ben Compton have also impressed with the bat with both recording over 500 runs so far, while Jack Leaning and England Test batter Zak Crawley have centuries during the campaign. However, the bowling attack has not been as consistent with all the bowlers averaging over 34 per wicket. New signing Matt Parkinson has 20 wickets, while Nathan Gilchrist and George Garrett have 13 and 11 respectively. Overseas players Beyers Swanepoel and Charlie Stobo are also talented players.
