Match Preview: Hampshire v Kent Spitfires - Royal London One-Day Cup

James Vince's side will be looking to continue their unbeaten run to start this year's competition on Sunday at the The Ageas Bowl

Hampshire have begun this year’s Royal London One-Day Cup in excellent form, with James Vince’s side still unbeaten from their opening four matches to sit top of the South Group.

Kent Spitfires are the latest visitors to the The Ageas Bowl on Sunday and the hosts will be looking to continue their unbeaten run and move one step further to securing a place in the competition’s knockout stages with another positive result.

Hampshire Squad:

A 15-man squad has been named for Friday’s away fixture, with Hashim Amla the only absentee from the group that secured victories over Sussex Sharks, Surrey and Essex Eagles in the last week. Sean Ervine is the batsman who comes into the squad in Amla’s place.

Rilee Rossouw has dazzled at the top of the order so far during this white-ball campaign, striking 90 against Surrey on Monday, before recording his first century at the The Ageas Bowl with an outstanding 111 against Essex Eagles on Wednesday. The left-hander will be hoping to continue his good form on Sunday.

The Opposition:

Kent Spitfires had a frustrating 2017 Royal London One-Day Cup campaign, enjoying just one win from their eight South Group fixtures to see them finish bottom and eliminated at the competition’s opening stage.

Joe Denly’s side have also had a difficult start to this year’s 50-over effort, suffering defeat against Sussex and Middlesex in their opening two fixtures. But the Spitfires picked up an important win against Glamorgan on Friday will be looking to build on that with victory this weekend.

The visitors are without their Club captain Sam Billings, who remains unavailable due to his IPL commitments.
