Match Preview: Hampshire v Leicestershire, LV= CC

A 12-man squad has been named for Hampshire's LV= Insurance County Championship clash against Leicestershire at The Ageas Bowl

Hampshire bounced back from consecutive defeats to record an impressive victory over Middlesex last week and they’ll be searching to secure another positive result when they face Leicestershire at The Ageas Bowl in the latest round of LV= Insurance County Championship action.

James Vince’s side recorded a resounding seven-wicket win in just over two days of play against Middlesex at Lord’s in their most recent outing, and following a dominant performance against Leicestershire in the competition’s curtain-raiser back in April, they’ll have back-to-back successes in their sights this week.

Hampshire Squad:

A 12-man squad has been announced for this week’s home fixture.

Leg-spinner Mason Crane returns to join the final XI from last week’s match at Lord’s in the matchday squad.

Kyle Abbott dominated with the ball against Peter Handscomb’s side in the capital, finishing with match figures of 11-85 to take his wicket tally to 26 so far this season. The right-armer combined brilliantly once again with fellow overseas star Mohammad Abbas, who claimed six wickets of his own, and the duo, who have now taken 50 wickets between them from just six matches, will be integral to their side’s chances this week.

Keith Barker struck his second half-century in as many innings at Lord’s and his all-round contributions have been vital so far this season. He’ll be looking to continue his good form against Leicestershire, whilst James Vince, Liam Dawson and Tom Alsop, who all struck centuries in the reverse fixture last month, will all be hoping to make contributions again at The Ageas Bowl.
