Hampshire v Somerset
LV= Insurance County Championship (Division One)
Thursday 7th April - Sunday 10th April 2022 (11am Start)
The Ageas Bowl
Hampshire welcome Somerset to The Ageas Bowl for the first LV= Insurance County Championship fixture of the 2022 campaign this week.
James Vince’s side narrowly missed out on their first title since 1973 last year and will be looking to start off strongly as they attempt to go one better in 2022.
Hampshire Squad
A 13-man squad has been named for this week’s season-opening fixture.
The squad is largely similar to that which contested the final pre-season friendly against Loughborough UCCE, with the much-anticipated return of Mohammad Abbas – who comes in for Scott Currie – the only change.
The seamer re-joins fellow overseas star Kyle Abbott and Keith Barker in leading the side’s bowling attack.
Ben Brown is in line to make a full debut for Hampshire after joining from south coast rivals Sussex.
There are also spots for Felix Organ and James Fuller who both impressed during pre-season friendlies.
James Vince will miss the second and third sessions on day one to attend his father-in-law’s funeral and will re-join the game from the start of day two.
