Hampshire Squad:

An unchanged 15-man squad has been named for Monday’s opening home contest, following Saturday’s away victory over Sussex Sharks in the competition’s curtain-raiser.

Gareth Berg, who starred with both bat and ball in that first win, will be hoping to continue his good form in front of a good home crowd, whilst Reece Topley and Mason Crane both made positive starts in their first appearance of the season and are set to feature once again.

Hashim Amla continued his excellent form this season, striking yet another half-century on Saturday – his fourth of the season – and he’ll likely be key to James Vince’s side’s fortunes on Monday.

Sam Northeast and Liam Dawson remain unavailable after both suffering finger injuries in the first rounds of four-day action this season, whilst Kyle Abbott is still recovering from an ankle injury.

The Opposition:

Surrey proved to be a formidable side once again in last year’s Royal London One-Day Cup, reaching a third successive 50-over final, before falling to a narrow defeat to double limited-overs champions, Nottinghamshire at Lord’s.

Ben Foakes and Kumar Sangakkara were pivotal to their success with the bat averaging 96.40 and 77.86 respectively, whilst Jade Dernbach and Sam Curran also ensured their bowling attack was equally successful with the pair claiming a combined 35 wickets.

Despite the loss of Sangakkara to retirement, Surrey will be confident of continuing their 50-over success again this season – although a difficult eight-wicket loss to Somerset on Friday saw their campaign get off to a less than ideal start.
