Hampshire Women v Durham

Women's Metro Bank One Day Cup

Wednesday 7th May (10:30am start)

Arundel Castle Cricket Ground

Hampshire Women take on Durham at Arundel Castle in the latest round of fixtures in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

The Rose and Crown fell to a seven-wicket defeat to The Blaze at Trent Bridge despite a third half-century in succession from opening batter Ella McCaughan as she moves up to third place in the run-scoring charts.

Durham have gotten off to a tricky start, with just one win – their first match against Essex – from their first four games.

They were defeated by four wickets at the hands of Somerset in their most recent match, with captain Hollie Armitage making 89 and Katie Levick claiming 2-33 with her leg spin.

Hampshire Squad

Hampshire have named a 15-player squad for their match against Durham.

Spin bowler Ava Lee is the only addition to an otherwise unchanged squad from the previous match against The Blaze.

Freya Kemp, Naomi Dattani, and Mary Taylor remain injured.

Durham

Captain: Hollie Armitage

Overseas Players: Suzie Bates (New Zealand)

Durham are one of the few counties that weren’t the hub of their regional team – Northern Diamonds. Whilst they have kept a chunk of the squad from the previous era, they have brought in some great talent from other counties.

England’s Lauren Filer and Mady Villiers were two huge signings when they were announced last winter, along with former Hampshire batter Emily Windsor although she is currently recovering from surgery.

Hollie Armitage, Katie Levick, and Bess Heath were mainstays from the previous set up, and are expected to lead the Durham outfit this summer – Armitage is their leading run scorer from the first four matches whilst Levick has six wickets.

Phoebe Turner is currently the leading wicket taker in the competition – the 21-year-old medium pacer currently has 11 wickets, three more than the next best (Linsey Smith and Kathryn Bryce).
