Hampshire Women take on Lancashire in the final of the Metro Bank One Day Cup at Utilita Bowl.
Georgia Adams’ second century of the season secured a thrilling win over Surrey in the semi-final on Wednesday, as she shared a partnership of 104 off 100 balls with number eight Mary Taylor, who recorded her first professional fifty.
The two took Hampshire from 186-6 in the 31st over to winning the game with just under three overs to spare, as the relentless drizzle as set in and night beginning to fall.
Freya Davies also claimed four wickets to overtake Linsey Smith to become Hampshire’s leading wicket-taker in the competition with 18 whilst Bex Tyson completed a tidy ten over spell of 2-39 to continue her excellent first professional season with the ball.
Lancashire were engaged in an enthralling contest with The Blaze on Tuesday at Trent Bridge, as they sealed victory in the final over of the game.
Captain Ellie Threlkeld’s 92 and Ailsa Lister’s 96 (91) helped the Red Rose to 241-6 in their fifty overs before they had The Blaze 37-3 inside the powerplay.
England seamer Kate Cross took 3-47 and Grace Potts claimed 3-32, but all-rounders Kathryn Bryce and Georgia Elwiss rescued the situation with the Scotland international making a dazzling 124 and Elwiss scoring 55.
The hosts needed nine runs from the final over, with Bryce on strike to Grace Potts who was bowling through the pain barrier.
Bryce chipped to mid off and Cassidy McCarthy was bowled the next ball to turn nine from six to nine from three, and Potts held her nerve to get Lancashire over the line by five runs.
Hampshire have named a 14-player squad for the final of the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
The squad remains unchanged from Wednesday’s semi-final win over Surrey.
England’s Maia Bouchier leads the run-scoring charts for the Rose and Crown with 473 whilst Georgia Adams’ unbeaten century last time out takes her into second place on 448.
Freya Davies’ four wickets saw her become the team’s leading wicket-taker with England spinner Linsey Smith the next best with 16 from her seven games.
Smith and pace bowler Lauren Bell are in the United Arab Emirates as they prepare for the upcoming Cricket World Cup which begins on Tuesday 30th September.
Batter Ella McCaughan continues to recover from injury.

The big questions: Will this be Lancashire’s year? They only progressed beyond the group stages of both 50-over and T20 cricket once combined in five years of regional cricket. But confidence is high that, following a winter’s work and some key signings, they can make their mark immediately on English domestic cricket’s new era.
Player to watch: Lancashire have signed two players from Central Sparks, or Warwickshire as they are now. First up, linchpin top order batter Eve Jones. If the experienced left-hander maintains her recent domestic form, Ellie Threlkeld’s side will have a great chance of success. There won’t be many better players without senior England recognition than Jones.
Young gun: Fast bowler Grace Potts has made the same journey from the West Midlands. She is on the verge of senior England honours having toured South Africa with them before Christmas. A sparkling summer will give the 22-year-old a great chance of debuting under new national coach Charlotte Edwards.
Final thought: Lancashire’s squad on paper is better than previous results have suggested. If their England stars Kate Cross and Sophie Ecclestone play a good number of games, that will be a huge boost. Big impacts from fringe internationals Mahika Gaur, Emma Lamb and Seren Smale will also go a long way. Australian batter Katie Mack and compatriot leg-spinner Alana King will share overseas duties during the first half of 2025.
Squad: Ellie Threlkeld (captain), Olivia Bell, Alice Clarke, Danielle Collins, Kate Cross, Sophie Ecclestone, Mahika Gaur, Phoebe Graham, Liberty Heap, Hannah Jones, Alana King, Emma Lamb, Gaby Lewis (Ireland), Ailsa Lister, Katie Mack, Fi Morris, Sophie Morris, Tara Norris, Hannah Rainey, Seren Smale.
