Hampshire Women play at home for the first time in their Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign on Sunday 27th April as Surrey come to Utilita Bowl.

Georgia Adams’ side got underway with a thrilling tie with Warwickshire in their season opener at Edgbaston on Wednesday when a direct hit run out by Abi Norgrove off the final ball of the game ensured the Rose and Crown took two points back to the south coast.

Rhianna Southby top scored for Hampshire with the bat, her 72 from 95 balls a career best in List A cricket whilst Linsey Smith claimed 4-39 with the ball.

Surrey too had an exhilarating opening game of the season, as they were defeated by Somerset off the final ball as the Wyverns needed 31 from the final two overs.

All-rounders Alice Davidson-Richards and Paige Scholfield top scored with 57 and 48 respectively, whilst Davidson-Richards, Ryana Macdonald-Gay, and Alice Capsey shared the three wickets between them.


Hampshire Squad

Hampshire have named a 14-player squad for their clash with Surrey.

The squad remains unchanged from the tie with Warwickshire on Wednesday, with England’s Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, and Linsey Smith all available whilst Freya Kemp continues to recover from a back injury.

Surrey have a squad full of international experience with Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Alice Capsey, Sophia Dunkley, Alice Davidson-Richards and Ryana MacDonald-Gay expected to feature with captain Bryony Smith and in-form all-rounder Paige Scholfield.

Former Southern Vipers players Wyatt-Hodge and Alice Monaghan return to their former home ground, with Monaghan scoring 71 in a friendly match against Hampshire in pre-season.

There are plenty of bowling options, with Monaghan, MacDonald-Gay, Phoebe Franklin and Dani Gregory picking up a combined 46 wickets in the 2024 Rachel Heyhoe-Flint Trophy.
