Match Preview: Lancashire Thunder v Southern Vipers

The Southern Vipers will head north on Sunday to face winless Lancashire Thunder with the chance to bounce back from defeat against Loughborough Lightning earlier this week in the Kia Super League.

Southern Vipers Squad:

Tammy Beaumont to continue building on her run of good knocks again this Sunday after top-scoring for the Vipers in the opening two games. An unbeaten 62 runs against Surrey Stars helped guide the Vipers to victory but her 37 runs against Lightning couldn’t ensure back-to-back victories.

Amelia Kerr starred with the ball in hand on Wednesday alongside Fi Morris and Tash Farrant. The trio each took a wicket and the young Kiwi particularly shone under the The Ageas Bowl’s lights as she finished with incredible figures of 1-6 from her four over allocation.

Katie George, who has been side-lined through injury so far this campaign, is in contention once again on Sunday.

The Opposition:

Lancashire Thunder’s season got off to a disastrous start last week after being bowled out for just 72 against Loughborough Lightning as they stormed through the top and middle order, but a victory over Yorkshire diamonds yesterday ensured they claimed their first points of the campaign.

The home-side aren’t short of international talent with New Zealand all-rounder Amy Satterthwaite and England trio Alex Hartley, Kate Cross and captain Danielle Hazell, who have all had a busy summer with the national side.
