Match Preview: Loughborough Lightning v Southern Vipers - Kia Super League

Southern Vipers batter Tammy Beaumont is in line to make her return to action on Saturday

The Southern Vipers will be looking to secure a much-needed victory when they take on Loughborough Lightning in the latest instalment of Kia Super League action on Saturday.

Southern Vipers Squad:

Suzie Bates’ side will be hoping to bounce back from Thursday’s defeat to Yorkshire Diamonds on Saturday, with the competition now at the midway stage.

Bates was the focal point of the Vipers top-order again on Thursday, alongside good contributions from Mignon du Preez and youngster Amelia Kerr, and the trio will be hoping to continue their good form with the bat this weekend.

Kerr also impressed with the ball as she collected two wickets for only 27 runs from her four overs, whilst Natasha Farrant picked up two scalps to take her tally to nine for the campaign so far.

Tammy Beaumont, who has missed out the previous two matches after serving the six-day mandatory concussion protocol, is expected to make a return.

The Opposition:

Loughborough Lightning propelled themselves to the top of the KSL table after cruising to a nine-wicket victory over Surrey Stars in only ten overs earlier this week, given them a fourth win from five matches so far.

Jenny Gunn and Kirstie Gordon collected three wickets each in that contest, before New Zealander Sophie Devine devoured Surrey’s bowling attack with a blistering 32-ball 61.
