Joseph Eckland And Daisy Mullan Released
Keeper-batter Joseph Eckland and all-rounder Daisy Mullan will leave Hampshire Cricket on the expiration of their contracts
Following back-to-back defeats against Somerset and Surrey, Hampshire will be looking to get back on track this week as they travel to Lord’s to take on Middlesex in the latest round of LV= Insurance County Championship action.
James Vince’s side head to the capital in search of a positive result and hoping to recapture some of their impressive early season form which saw them secure dominant victories against Middlesex and Leicestershire, as well as a dominant draw against Gloucestershire, in the opening three weeks of the season.
Hampshire Squad:
A 13-man squad has been announced for this week’s away fixture.
Top-order batsman Cameron Steel, currently on loan from Durham, comes into the squad for the first time, joining Brad Wheal and the final XI from last week’s match at The Ageas Bowl in the travelling party.
A flurry of early centuries from a host of Hampshire batsmen in the opening three weeks – Tom Alsop, Liam Dawson, Ian Holland, Sam Northeast and James Vince all recorded hundreds in April – helped to build a strong early foundation to begin this year’s competition, and a strong showing with the bat will be crucial against Peter Handscomb’s outfit this week.
Keith Barker impressed on his return from injury against Somerset, recording a half-century and claiming four first-innings wickets in his first appearance of the season. He’ll be looking to make a big impact alongside fellow new-ball seamers, Kyle Abbott and Mohammad Abbas.
