Match Preview: Southern Vipers v Central Sparks, RHFT
Southern Vipers face Central Sparks in the final Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy match before the Charlotte Edwards Cup begins on 22nd May
Southern Vipers v Western Storm
Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy
Saturday 6th May (10:30am start)
The 1st Central County Ground, Hove
Southern Vipers’ first trip to Hove was washed out as the points were shared between them and Western Storm, as the rain fell across the vast majority of the south coast.
The teams will be hoping to get at least some play in on a damp-looking Wednesday afternoon down by the sea, in what is the final Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy match before the Vipers begin their Charlotte Edwards Cup title defence on Tuesday 22nd May.
The last time the two sides met, the Vipers came out on top in a narrow three-wicket victory in the fields of Buckinghamshire as the Sparks played host at Wormsley.
Captain Georgia Adams stole the show, taking 4-30 – her best figures in orange and black – and scoring a half-century in a partnership of 115 with Charlie Dean for the fifth wicket.
The Sparks managed to tie their most recent match against Thunder as they scrambled through for a leg bye on the last ball of the match with the scores level on Duckworth-Lewis.
Australian Erin Burns starred on her Sparks debut with 4-56 with the ball and 37 with the bat, whilst skipper Eve Jones top scored with 69 at the top of the order.
