Lumsden At The Helm As Young Lions Roar Past Australia To U-19 World Cup Final
Hampshire seamer Manny Lumsden’s key 2-for and skipper Thomas Rew’s clutch century helped the Young Lions make their third-ever Under-19 World Cup final
Southern Vipers will begin their Kia Super League title defence in a repeat of last year’s final, when they host Western Storm at the The Ageas Bowl.
Southern Vipers Squad:
Southern Vipers have named a 15-player squad for the season opener in front of a home crowd. Charlotte Edwards and Suzie Bates return for the 2017 campaign, whilst international stars Hayley Matthews, Danni Wyatt and Mignon du Preez are all set to make their debuts for the Vipers.
The Opposition:
Western Storm are looking to go one better this season after their seven-wicket defeat to the Vipers at Chelmsford last August. Heather Knight’s side have retained England team-mate Fran Wilson as well as keeping hold of overseas players Stefanie Taylor and Rachel Priest. New Zealand international Holly Huddleston is set to make her debut for Western Storm, but World Cup hero Anya Shurbsole is unavailable.
