Southern Vipers will be looking to get back to winning ways, as their started their CEC title defence on the wrong end of a low scoring thriller at Utilita Bowl.
All six Vipers bowlers on show picked up a wicket, but some tidy bowling and fielding by the Blaze kept the home side four runs shy of victory.
In their opening match of the competition, Sunrisers lost out to the Central Sparks as the home side chased down their target of 139 with six overs to spare.
The last – and so far, only – time Vipers took on Sunrisers in the CEC, Georgia Adams’ unbeaten 63 off just 33 deliveries saw the Vipers through to another Finals Day, as they chased down 115 for victory un under 15 overs.

Southern Vipers have named a 14-player squad for their CEC clash against Sunrisers.
Linsey Smith returns to the squad on the completion of England Women’s IT20 series against Pakistan, but Lauren Bell, Maia Bouchier, Charlie Dean, and Danni Wyatt remain on international duty for the ODI series.
Georgia Adams returns as captain having recovered from a thigh strain which saw her miss her first ever Charlotte Edwards Cup match, and only her second as a Vipers player.

Sunrisers
Sunrisers have had a promising start to 2024, as they currently sit top of the RHFT table with 19 points, although they were comfortable overcome by Central Sparks in their opening CEC clash.
Since the inception of the Charlotte Edwards Cup in 2021, Sunrisers have only won a single match – that being their very first game against Western Storm, where they chased down 130.
However, the ‘Risers have had the wood over the Vipers in recent times, as they have defeated the reigning double champions in three 50-over matches in a row, as they got over the line in a final over thriller at Radlett just a few weeks ago.
Last summer, Cordelia Griffith was their only batter to score over 100 runs in the competition, and average over 24.
Australian bowler Nicola Hancock will continue her stint with the Sunrisers having extended her stay for the CEC.
She is currently the leading wicket taker in the RHFT with 14 scalps to her name, and her runs in the tail helped the Sunrisers to a three-wicket win at the start of May.
