Vitality T20 Women’s County Cup

Saturday 17th May (2:30pm start)

County Ground, Beckenham

Hampshire Hawks Women will play their first T20 of the summer in the knockout Vitality T20 County Cup this Saturday.

The Rose and Crown currently sit top of the Metro Bank One Day Cup table having won five of their seven matches, with only one defeat, whilst Surrey sit sixth with two wins from seven matches, although the Browncaps tied with The Blaze in their latest match which saw the highest runs aggregate in the history of English women’s List A cricket.

Overseas players are not permitted for the T20 County Cup, whilst both sides can be expected to field their centrally contracted England players.

The team that wins the contest – the third round of fixtures after Tier 2 and 3 teams have battled it out over previous weeks – will play a quarter final later in the week with Finals Day held at Taunton on Monday 26th May.

Australian Charli Knott is not permitted to play.

Mary Taylor comes into the squad for the first time this season having recovered from a thumb injury whilst Abi Norgrove and Bex Tyson are in line to make their professional T20 debuts.

Freya Kemp and Naomi Dattani remain injured.

Surrey

Captain: Bryony Smith

2025 Leading Run Scorer (MBODC): Sophia Dunkley (319)

2025 Leading Wicket Taker (MBODC): Dani Gregory (10)

Surrey Squad: Kira Chathli (C/†), Alice Capsey, Priyanaz Chatterji, Tilly Corteen-Coleman, Alice Davidson-Richards, Phoebe Franklin, Dani Gregory, Emma Jones, Ryana Macdonald-Gay, Bethan Miles, Kalea Moore, Paige Scholfield, Alexa Stonehouse.

Surrey have had a difficult start to 2025, having won only two of their seven matches so far, despite – on paper – a stacked squad of international talent.

Sophia Dunkley is leading with the bat whilst Alice Capsey is just two runs behind having scored her maiden List A century in Surrey’s tied match against The Blaze having been set a target of 347 to win.

Leg Spinner Dani Gregory is their leading wicket taker, with former Hampshire all-rounder Alice Monaghan and England pacer Ryana Macdonald-Gay not far behind.

Bryony Smith and Monaghan were both left out of their squad that took on The Blaze due to a side strain and a thumb injury respectively.
