Match Preview: Surrey v Hampshire - Royal London One-Day Cup

Hampshire head to The Oval to take on Surrey in the latest instalment of Royal London One-Day Cup action on Tuesday

Hampshire will be looking to bounce back from a defeat for the first time in this year’s Royal London One-Day Cup campaign, as James Vince’s side head to The Oval to take on Surrey in search of a fifth victory in six matches to begin the 50-over competition.

Hampshire Squad:

An unchanged 13-man squad has been named for Tuesday’s trip to Surrey with Aneurin Donald and Brad Taylor again featuring alongside the final XI that lined-up at Chelmsford on Sunday.

Rilee Rossouw struck his third half-century in four innings at the weekend, crunching 93 from just 72 balls in the defeat against Essex Eagles, and the left-hander will be hoping to continue his good form heading into the final three South Group fixtures.

Kyle Abbott and Liam Dawson were in the wickets once again last week and the duo have 11 scalps each to their name from the five matches contested so far, good enough for a place in the top five wicket-takers in this year’s competition.

Chris Wood, who was part of the squad for the opening three 50-over games, is unavailable after suffering an injury in last week's victory against Middlesex.

The Opposition:

With four defeats from their first five matches, Surrey have endured a tough start to this year’s competition, taking just two points out of a possible 10 so far in the South Group

A 64-run loss against Glamorgan on Sunday all but ended their hopes of qualification for the competition’s knockout stages, but Rory Burns’ side will be hoping to finish their campaign positively to take some momentum into the next batch of Specsavers County Championship fixtures later this month.

Keeper-batsman Ben Foakes has been in good form in this year’s tournament with the right-hander totalling 262 runs at an average of 52.60 so far– his contributions with the bat will be crucial to their chances of success with all other Surrey batsmen yet to pass 160 runs in the competition.

The always dangerous Morne Morkel will be Surrey’s chief weapon with the ball having picked up 12 wickets at an average of just over 18 in their five contests, good enough to see him fourth in the list of top 50-over wicket-takers.
