Hampshire’s Pre-Season Calendar Confirmed
Hampshire’s men and women will be going on tour in March with trips to Stellenbosch and Desert Springs, and five warm up matches
Hampshire will look for redemption against Sussex in the second instalment of ‘el clasicoast’ as James Vince’s side head to Hove in search of a vital Vitality Blast victory this Sunday.
Hampshire Squad:
An unchanged 16-man squad remains from Thursday’s contest against Middlesex at Lord’s with Hampshire searching for a second win of the campaign.
Colin Munro struck his second half-century of the competition to top-score on Thursday and he’ll be hoping to continue that run of good form at Hove this Sunday whilst Fidel Edwards also looked in fiery form and the paceman is likely to feature once again.
The Opposition:
After defeating Hampshire in the Blast earlier on this month, Sussex have since only played once in the competition - a comprehensive 52 run defeat to Surrey - but remain in a strong position in the South Group with three victories from four matches.
Opener Phil Salt hit his first T20 half century last time out but wasn’t backed up further down the order with Jofra Archer’s 18 the next highest score. Luke Wright’s duck against Surrey was only a blip as the last time the Sussex skipper faced Hampshire he raced to 68, setting up a partnership of 96 with Laurie Evans, who also recorded a half century, along the way.
Pace bowlers Chris Jordan and Archer will again lead Sussex’s bowling attack, teaming up with spin duo Danny Briggs and danger-man Rashid Khan.
