The Vipers head to the north west where they face Thunder in their latest Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy fixture
Thunder v Southern Vipers
Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy
Friday 7th July (10:30am start)
Southport
Southern Vipers will be hoping to get back to winning ways, after they suffered defeat at the hands of Sunrisers for the second time this season on Sunday 2nd July.
Led by stand-in captain Emily Windsor as the Vipers were missing six first team players, the team fell just 28 runs shy of their target in Chelmsford, with Windsor leading the way with 84.
A cameo of 34* from just 26 balls from Alice Monaghan couldn’t get the Vipers over the line after an impressive comeback with the ball bowled the Sunrisers out for 254, with Georgia Elwiss picking up 3-37, and debutants Ava Lee and Megan Sturge picking up three wickets between them.
Thunder also narrowly lost out in their last game, ending 29 runs short against Central Sparks, as the north west side are yet to win a 50-over match this season, despite reaching the eliminator of the Charlotte Edwards Cup.
Former Viper Tara Norris starred with the ball, taking 4-42, and England U19s wicket keeper Seren Smale fell just six runs shy of a maiden century.
