Gareth Berg (65) & (3-51) - Sussex Sharks v Hampshire, Royal London One-Day Cup – 19th May 2018
All-rounder, Gareth Berg - on this day in 2018 - starred with bat and ball as Hampshire beat 'el clasicoast' rivals Sussex Sharks at Hove in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
After winning the toss Sussex decided they'd have a bat and despite Reece Topley striking in the first over, they made their way to 111-2 after 23 overs. Harry Finch (108) held together the Sharks' innings but he, like Rawlins and Burgess, fell to Gareth Berg who finished with figures of 3-51 as the hosts posted 250 all-out.
Hampshire made a jittery start in reply, slipping to 1-1, 19-2 and 48-3 with Hashim Amla (63) the only top-six batsman to make more than twenty.
When Gareth Berg (65) joined Lewis McManus (41) Hampshire were 133-6 and the 251 required to win looked a long way off.
However, Berg's ten boundaries and able support from Mason Crane (21*) saw Hampshire home in the game's final over.
