Dimitri Mascarenhas (5-14) - Sussex Sharks v Hampshire, Twenty20 Cup, 9th July 2004

The T20 rivalry between Sussex and Hampshire is forever etched in history with the format's first match being played at The Rose Bowl, now known as The Ageas Bowl, all the way back in 2003.

Just a year later, during the 2004 fixture at Hove, even more history was made.

Sussex found themselves at just 32/5 following a couple of wickets each for Chris Tremlett and James Bruce, alongside a run out, before former Hampshire captain Dimitri Mascarenhas stole the show.

Robin Martin-Jenkins was the first to fall after he nicked behind to Nic Pothas for a simple catch - but things would only get worse for the Sharks.

Dimi then took the wickets of Mark Davis, Mushtaq Ahmed and Jason Lewry in three consecutive balls, meaning he had taken the first ever hat-trick in the T20 format.

He rounded off his bowling display by wiping out James Kirtley's stumps, finishing with figures of 5-14 and seeing Sussex all out for only 67.

Though Hampshire looked to be falling for another small total, they secured the victory with just six balls remaining.
