Hampshire v Somerset, Benson & Hedges Cup – 16th May 1985

Hampshire – on the 16th May 1985 - enjoyed a convincing victory at Southampton in the Benson & Hedges Cup.

Somerset batted first and after Marshall and Connor opened with tight overs, Tremlett, and Nicholas had them 39-3.

The Somerset captain, Botham with 48 offered some stability but Tremlett took 3-24 from his 11 overs and Somerset closed on 167-8, almost exactly three runs per over, with keeper Bobby Parks claiming five catches.

Davis and Palmer dismissed Greenidge, Terry and Nicholas at 62-3, but Robin Smith (63*) and David Turner (52*) took Hampshire to a seven wicket victory with 19 balls remaining.
