Nick Gubbins (131* & 4-38) - Hampshire v Sussex Sharks, Royal London One-Day Cup, 27th July 2021
Sussex Sharks made the short trip down to The Ageas Bowl for an ‘el clasicoast’ clash in the 2021 Royal London Cup.
Batter Nick Gubbins, who had joined from Middlesex less than a month earlier, decided that this was a perfect time to announce himself to the Hampshire fans.
He made an unbeaten 131 from 119 balls, which included six fours and five sixes, as Hampshire recorded a strong total of 328 for 7 from their 50 overs.
However, he wasn’t done there.
Having only ever taking one wicket in all formats, Gubbins went on to record figures of 4-38 as Sussex were bowled out for 230 in 41.2 overs – giving Hampshire a 98-run victory.
