Joseph Eckland And Daisy Mullan Released
Keeper-batter Joseph Eckland and all-rounder Daisy Mullan will leave Hampshire Cricket on the expiration of their contracts
Hampshire Second XI batsman Felix Organ produced a fine 72-run innings, but watched his team collapse with the bat in a 6-wicket defeat at the hands of Bashley in the British Gas Southern Premier League on Saturday.
Bashley's formidable bowling attack, led by Kevin Nash (4-34), reduced Hampshire to 104 all out and surpassed the home side's total in 24 overs at the Nursery Ground.
Hampshire can be greatly encouraged by the efforts of Organ, who led by example with the bat and calmly scored 72 runs off 101 balls in a challenging match.
Organ (72) was the only Hampshire batsman to survive a lethal spell from Nash, which removed the top order and left the home side on 41-5.
Joe Weatherley and Tom Scriven edged Nash behind to Andrew Neal, whilst Ben Duggan (8) and Jake Goodwin (0) were trapped at lbw, and Neal then struck with the ball to remove key Hampshire batsmen Josh McCoy (0) and Miles Kantolinna (3).
Organ reached his fifty and moved impressively onto 72, having faced 101 balls and hit 10 boundaries, before Jake Lilley ended his progress by taking two final wickets and reducing Hampshire to 104 all out.
Looking to prevent Bashley's batsmen from reaching their target of 105 runs, Hants bowlers Chris Searle (2-19) and Jack Campbell (2-23) started the task well, reducing the visitors to 43-3 and planting a seed of doubt, as Tom Scriven caught opener Neil Thurgood (21) and Tom Jacques (5) from the bowling of Searle.
Campbell then claimed his second wicket, but Bashley skipper Michael Porter (36*) and Chris Ridley (27*) took Bashley to victory, surpassing 104 and finishing unbetaen on 108-4 after 24 overs.
