Overseas Round-Up: Five Players In T10 League & Albert Hits Ton
During the winter months, many Hampshire players have continued playing cricket around the globe
Following the close of the 2022 English domestic season in September, a number of Hampshire players have opted to venture overseas in order to hone their skills in competitive fixtures during the winter.
The Abu Dhabi T10 League got underway on Wednesday 23rd November and finished on Sunday 4th December with five Hampshire players involved throughout.
In six games for Bangla Tigers, Benny Howell took five wickets with an economy rate of 10.80, while Liam Dawson made two appearances for Northern Warriors.
James Fuller and Ross Whiteley turned out for Chennai Braves in the tournament. They scored 86 and 49 runs respectively, and Fuller also chipped in with four wickets.
Finally, Hampshire skipper James Vince played for Team Abu Dhabi who lost out to Morrisville Samp Army in the third-place play-off. Vince led the team in runs scored with 189 at an average of 37.80 and with a best of 44 not out.
On the international stage, Ian Holland represented USA in four ODIs during November. The all-rounder scored 62 runs in three innings, with a best of 40 coming in the most recent match against Namibia. He was also successful with the ball, taking eight wickets which included figures of 3/55 against Papua New Guinea.
In Australia, Toby Albert has been playing for Joondalup. In a recent 1st Grade match against Wanneroo, Albert scored an unbeaten 106 runs from 191 balls – his best score for Joondalup so far. He also made a score of 40 in a recent T20.
Overall, during his time in Australia, Albert has now played in 13 matches, scoring 339 runs at an average of 26.08.
Fletcha Middleton, who has been plying his trade for Cape Town in South Africa, has scored 216 runs in 11 matches – at an average of 27.00.
