Petrie Looks Ahead To 2022

Hampshire rookie looking to make a splash in 2022

Harry Petrie joined Toby Albert and John Turner in signing rookie contracts for the 2022 season.

The tall seamer has come through the Hampshire Academy but is yet to make his first team debut.

“To sign with Hampshire is a dream come true, it is what every young Academy player is looking to do.”

Looking ahead to the 2022 campaign, Petrie was hopeful that chances in the first team are forthcoming.

“I want to be opening the bowling for the Second XI, and hopefully get some experience in the Royal London (Cup) – that is the goal.”

The fast bowler has seen his former Academy team mates – Tom Prest, Toby Albert and Scott Currie – make strides in the first team and wants to follow in their footsteps.

“Playing with all three of those lads through the age group system and into the Academy just shows that it is doable and it’s not a massive jump up. It’s really good to see what they’ve achieved and I look forward to seeing what they do in the future.”

You can watch Harry Petrie and the rest of the Hampshire squad in action over the course of 2022 with a Hampshire Cricket Membership.

2022 Members also receive access to an exclusive allocation of tickets for next summer’s otherwise sold-out Vitality IT20s at The Ageas Bowl with England facing both India and South Africa at the venue next summer, alongside a whole host of other exciting benefits.
