Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy Rewind: Taylor Takes Three In Emphatic Win Against Lightning

Charlotte Taylor took a season-best of 3-31 on the way to a 66-run victory against Lightning

With the 2022 season now firmly in the rear-view mirror, we're taking a look back at some of the performances that caught the eye throughout Southern Vipers' Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy campaign.

Having posted 294-6 thanks to openers Adams and McCaughan, along with the aid of Windsor, the pressure was on Lightning to complete a difficult chase, albeit in good batting conditions.

Missing five Vipers on international duty, up stepped Tara Norris and Charlotte Taylor to do the brunt of the damage with the ball.

The off spinner struck in the tenth over having tied down Lightning’s skipper, Kathryn Bryce, and the Scotland international paid the price when she chipped a return catch straight to Taylor who dutifully accepted.

A partnership of 60 between wicket keeper Sarah Bryce and Bethan Ellis was ended by Nancy Harman, before Taylor was once again in on the act within a matter of minutes.

Just five balls after Sarah Bryce was dismissed, Taylor had Ellis caught behind as Carla Rudd snaffled up a thin edge from the right hander.

With victory all but imminent, Taylor claimed her third and once again, two wickets fell in the space of an over.

Harman first dismissed England U19’s Josie Groves, before Taylor cleaned up Sophie Munro with the first ball of the 38th over, and Lightning found themselves struggling at 204-7.

Tara Norris then picked up two wickets in an over, before finishing things off in the 44th over, as the Vipers won by 66 runs.
