With the 2022 season now firmly in the rear-view mirror, we're taking a look back at some of the performances that caught the eye throughout Southern Vipers' Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy campaign.
With the platform having been set by openers Adams and McCaughan, the Vipers’ middle order had the chance to go big at Derby against Lightning on World Snake Day.
However, a slight stumble saw the Vipers slip from 153-0 to 189-4, but it was Emily Windsor, having come off the back of a career best 90, who steadied the ship along with some lower order pinch hitting from Tara Norris and Nancy Harman.
The right-hander struck her first boundary off just her sixth delivery when she cut Sophie Munro through point for four.
The runs and boundaries then dried up a little for Windsor, but the Portsmouth-born batter set about rotating the strike and scoring the ones and twos whilst the lower order sought to clear the boundary.
It wasn’t until the 48th over where Windsor scored her second boundary when she cut a short, wide ball from Piepa Cleary for four as the Vipers neared the 300 mark.
Just a few balls later and Windsor once again found the boundary off a cut shot, albeit slightly more streaky this time with an outside edge off Kathryn Bryce.
She kept running hard, and finished with a quickfire 47 from just 49 as the Vipers ended up on 294-6.
Multiple wickets from Tara Norris, Charlotte Taylor and Nancy Harman, along with one each from Paige Scholfield and Georgia Adams, saw the Vipers bowl the home side out for 228, and victory was completed by 66 runs.
