This week saw The Ageas Bowl announce exciting redevelopment plans to improve fan and visitor experience and underpin the long term future of the venue and of Hampshire Cricket.
Speaking to the Club, CEO David Mann said “We’re looking to use a proposed new residential development and the commercial revenue from that to fund the redevelopment of the venue.”
Amongst the changes to The Ageas Bowl, will be to move the car parking and double the size of the car parks, along with having two access points to the ground, in a bid to alleviate traffic on Botley Road, especially on match days.

There will also be new and improved pedestrian access to the venue, with a new fan landing zone and fan village planned – alongside plans for a second, complementary hotel and enhanced community well-being facility.
As well as improving customer experience, the proposed changes will also help secure the long term future of The Ageas Bowl with the redevelopment enabling the acceleration of debt repayment to underpin the financial sustainability of the business, all while protecting the legacy of Hampshire Cricket which has been based at The Ageas Bowl since 2001.
Mann said: “When Rod Bransgrove saved Hampshire Cricket 20 years ago, he protected a legacy that’s over 150 years old, and we want to make sure that we put the business on a sound footing so that it is protected for another 150 years or more.”
