Group 5 – Buckinghamshire v Hampshire
Hampshire won a nail-biting first match against Buckinghamshire at Dinton CC which went down to the final ball of the game.
Batting first, the Rose and Crown notched up 86-7 in their 20 overs, with the experienced Danielle Ransley top scoring with 29 as Bucks’ Cara Duggan ripped through the visitors’ batting lineup with figures of 4-17.
The home side got off to a solid start, with the top three all reaching double figures – Amelia Peck top scoring with 23.
However, Ransley took three wickets in the space of eight balls to finish with figures of 3-12, whilst Vipers Academy spinner Eve O’Neill took two in an over to stun the Buckinghamshire batters, as they ended just three runs shy of victory.
In the second match, it was the turn of 22-year-old Vipers recruit Sophie Mitchelmore to lead the way with the bat as she top scored with 34 from 31 deliveries, with bowler Caitlin Chissell the next best with 17 as Hampshire ended their 20 overs on 111-7.
Hannah Davis took 3-19 for the home side, with Natasha MacBean and Rosie Lloyd picking up a wicket each.
Amelia Peck once again starred with the bat for Bucks, but no one else could join her in double figures as Caitlin Chissell ripped through the middle order on her way to 4-12 from three overs.
Talitha Stanley and Eve O’Neill picked up figures of 2-21 and 2-7 respectively, as Hampshire romped home to a 46-run victory.
Group 5 – Sussex v Berkshire
Both Sussex v Berkshire matches were abandoned.
Group 3 – Wiltshire v Dorset
Dorset failed to score any points on the weekend as they were beaten by a strong Wiltshire side at Westbury & District CC.
The home side racked up 147-2 in their 20 overs in the opening match, with Maxine Blythin and Isla Thomson scoring 72* and 62 respectively, as Megan Bishop picked up the only two wickets for Dorset.
Wicket-keeper Katie Butler top scored with 17* in reply for the visitors, but tidy bowling from the home side, including a spell of 0-7 in four overs from Emily Smith, kept Dorset to 83-6 in 20 overs.
Batting first in the second match, Dorset managed 94-7 with Megan Bishop leading the way with 18* from 13 deliveries.
However, Wiltshire skipper Isla Thomson once again starred with the bat as she finished on 46* to see the hosts home with five wickets and 21 balls to spare.
Lizzie Williams was the pick of the Dorset bowlers in the second game, as she took 2-33, with Emily Roberts, Megan Bishop, and Katie Harris all picking up a wicket each.
Group 6 – Oxfordshire v Middlesex
Oxfordshire were beaten twice by a strong Middlesex side containing five former and present Sunrisers players.
The home side were restricted to 71-8 by Middlesex in the opening game, with Ellie Ingram and Aimee Diab top scoring with 13 apiece, as Kate Coppack and Abtaha Maqsood, fresh from their victory against Southern Vipers on Saturday, took two wickets each, along with Emily Thorpe.
Issy Routledge and Amara Carr helped see the visitors home safely with 22* and 29* respectively, with Oxfordshire’s Laura Jacob picking up the only two wickets to fall.
In the second match, Oxfordshire were bowled out for just 69, with only Carla wood and Aimee Diab making it into double figures.
Laura Jacob was in the wickets once again as she picked up 2-14 in four overs, including a maiden, but Sunrisers’ Saskia Horley led the way to victory for Middlesex as she scored 33*.
