Royal London Cup Rewind: Currie Sinks Worcestershire

With the 2022 season now firmly in the rear-view mirror we're taking a look back at some of the performances that caught the eye throughout the campaign.

Hampshire’s young side exceeded expectations during the 2022 Royal London Cup by reaching the semi-final.

Being arguably the most experienced member of the specialist bowlers, 21-year-old Scott Currie had a fantastic campaign.

The 6ft 5 fast bowler took 18 wickets in the competition at an average of just 20.

Currie’s positive campaign began in the first match against Worcestershire at The Ageas Bowl.

With Hampshire batting first and setting a slightly below par total, Currie opened the bowling alongside Ian Holland and had experienced Pakistan batter Azhar Ali trapped LBW in his second over.

The fast bowler’s next wicket would have to wait until the 45^th over, which turned out to be the final over of the match.

Adam Finch could only spoon a slower ball up to Toby Albert at deep mid-wicket before Ben Gibbon was pinned LBW first ball to give Hampshire the win by 44 runs.
