The second annual Perform 5 Road Race and Centurion Fun Run has been hailed a ‘great success’ as more than 600 runners took part in the event hosted at the The Ageas Bowl.
The Perform 5 Road Race and Centurion Fun Run was introduced last year in partnership with sports and exercise medicine specialists Perform, part of Spire Healthcare, and both proved to be popular once again with runners of all ages and abilities taking part.
The dual event is a foundational part of Hampshire Cricket in the Community’s on-going work with Hedge End Running Club, who are based at the The Ageas Bowl as part of a partnership formed in 2015.
Well done to all of the finishers! It was wonderful to see people with such a diverse range of motivations taking part, from experienced club runners going all out for a new PB to beginners having their first ever taste of a mass participation running event. Special thanks must go to our amazing marshals from Hedge End Running Club and to Running Mania, the The Ageas Bowl and Perform, all of which have made it all possible
Greig Stewart, Hampshire Cricket In The Community
This year’s race winners were Aaron Wilson (City of Salisbury Athletics and Running Club) and Kathy Bailey (Winchester & District Athletics Club) with winning times of 27:36 and 30:46 respectively.
Perform, part of Spire healthcare, is proud to continue to sponsor this event and the The Ageas Bowl provides a stunning backdrop to make this one of the best events in the local running calendar. We would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to organise the event, its success and its growth is testament to their commitment.
Gregory Boon, Perform Southampton
It was fantastic to hear all the praise on the day, especially for the new course and we would like to thank the Ageas for continuing to host the event. Lastly, thank you to all those who took part, we saw runners of all ages and all abilities come together to show a community spirit. There were some incredible times and personal bests on the day, we look forward to seeing people build on this success next year.
