Ahead of the inaugural SA20 tournament, we have looked at the Hampshire players and staff involved
The first edition of the new SA20 tournament kicks off on Tuesday 10th January and we have taken a look at the two Hampshire players who will be involved, as well as a place for our First Team Manager.
Adi Birrell will coach the Sunrisers Eastern Cape during the tournament. He takes charge of a talented squad with the likes of Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen and captain Aiden Markram.
Alongside Birrell, the Sunrisers took on two more Hampshire representatives with all-rounder James Fuller and spinner Mason Crane – both of which were part of Hampshire Hawks’ 2022 Vitality Blast triumph.
Fuller, who was born in South Africa, has already experienced plenty of franchise cricket since the end of the English domestic season. After a spell in Abu Dhabi in the T10 League with Chennai Braves, the 32-year-old played for Jaffna Kings in the Lanka Premier League. He has also been picked up by Karachi Kings for the 2023 Pakistan Super League.
Meanwhile, Crane – who took 12 wickets in the Hawks’ Vitality Blast campaign – has also made the trip to South Africa to join up with the Sunrisers. He was recently called up to the England Lions' ODI squad for their tour of Sri Lanka.
Their tournament will get underway on Thursday 12th January as they welcome Pretoria Capitals to St. George’s Park.
